About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Energy Trading Analyst to join their strategic trading desk in Cardiff . This hybrid role involves analyzing market data, developing trading strategies, and executing transactions across various energy commodities. You will work closely with the trading team to identify profitable opportunities, manage risk, and optimize the company's energy portfolio. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze real-time energy market data, news, and economic indicators to identify trading opportunities.
• Develop and backtest quantitative trading strategies for power, gas, and other energy derivatives.
• Execute trades on various exchanges, ensuring compliance with risk management policies and trading limits.
• Provide timely market commentary and performance analysis to senior management and trading teams.
• Collaborate with risk management and operations teams to ensure efficient trade settlement and position management.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of trading systems and analytical tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 2-4 years of experience in energy trading, financial analysis, or quantitative research.
• Strong understanding of energy markets (power, natural gas, oil) and commodity trading principles.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, programming languages (e.g., Python, R), and trading platforms.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.
