About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Energy Trading Analyst to join their bustling trading floor operations in Manchester . This role is critical in supporting the company's energy trading strategies by providing rigorous market analysis, risk assessment, and trade execution support. You will work closely with traders and portfolio managers to identify market opportunities, manage risk exposures, and ensure efficient transaction processing across various energy commodities. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze real-time and historical energy market data to identify trading opportunities and risks.
- Monitor and forecast energy prices, supply/demand balances, and relevant economic indicators.
- Support traders in executing physical and financial energy trades across various platforms.
- Develop and maintain risk management models and reports to track portfolio exposure.
- Reconcile trade data, manage settlement processes, and ensure data accuracy.
- Collaborate with IT and risk departments to enhance trading systems and reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 2-4 years of experience in energy trading, market analysis, or financial risk management.
- Strong understanding of energy markets (power, gas, renewables) and trading instruments.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel VBA, Python, SQL).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic trading environment.
