Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Engineering Delivery Lead to join a Systems Engineering team, managing Portfolio engineering activities across a Complex Weapons Portfolio, offering exposure to the full product lifecycle from early concept studies to series production and in-service support.
This role combines technical understanding with broader business delivery, supporting major Portfolio decisions and helping steer the shape of the UK product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
• Managing Portfolio engineering activities associated with the delivery of the Complex Weapons Portfolio, including technical risks, obsolescence and engineering commonality
• Using your knowledge and experience to help steer and shape the delivery of the UK portfolio of products
• Developing and implementing new ways of working, building on past successes with the freedom to innovate
• Working with projects to improve the efficiency of Commonality, Modularity & Reuse, and reduce hardships
• Reviewing predicted and measured benefits to ensure realism from an engineering point of view
• Working with internal teams to ensure programme plans for dependencies exist
• Acting as the point of contact between Functions, Equipment Teams, Centres of Excellence and the Portfolio as risks or issues arise
• Ensuring solutions for portfolio obsolescence removal do not affect established dependencies
The ideal candidate would have:
• Exposure to wider Portfolio factors such as financial efficiencies, operational performance, exportability and Freedom of Action to the UK MoD
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders, including MOD and senior internal management
The ideal candidate must have:
• Significant experience in an engineering discipline, with a good understanding of product lifecycle including the design and development process for electro-mechanical equipment
• The ability to work with, influence, and challenge where required, including senior MOD and internal management
• A flexible mindset, able to tackle problems and develop genuinely innovative solutions for design challenges
• Ability to understand sophisticated technical problems, often with a high degree of uncertainty, complexity and inconsistency
• Effective prioritisation skills when presented with issues from multiple projects
• Ability to concisely summarise multi-faceted problems and influence, lead and empower teams positively
This position offers a lucrative benefits package, which includes but is not limited to:
• Company bonus scheme, based on company performance
• Strong employer pension contribution
• Opportunity for paid overtime
• Generous flexi leave allowance, with additional days available
• Flexible working arrangements welcomed
• Enhanced parental leave, covering maternity, adoption, shared parental and paternity leave, plus neonatal leave and fertility testing/treatment support
• Excellent on-site facilities, including subsidised meals and free car parking
• Healthcare Cash Plan, with cash back available on everyday healthcare expenses
