Engineering Support Technician – Newark

Location: Newark
Shift: Night Shift – 4 on / 4 off

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, based inNewark, who are looking for anEngineering Support Technicianto join their busy Engineering and Maintenance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a practical, hands-on approach who enjoys repairing equipment, solving problems and working as part of a team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will provide practical support to the Engineering and Production teams, helping to keep equipment operational and minimise downtime. You will need to be comfortable working independently when required, while also building strong working relationships with engineers and production colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Engineering team with general repair and maintenance activities.
• Support the team with incubation-related issues where required.
• Repair and maintain setter trolleys.
• Repair and maintain farm trolleys.
• Repair broken egg trays and key trays wherever possible.
• Repair hatcher and chick boxes.
• Repair broken dollies and replace wheels when required.
• Identify faults and carry out practical repairs.
• Help minimise equipment downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.

Experience & Skills

Essential:

• Engineering background or practical engineering experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and decision-making skills.
• Ability to use initiative.
• IT literate.
• Experience working within a hatchery environment.

Desirable:

• TIG welding experience.
• MIG welding experience.
• Experience repairing production equipment.
• Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.

Shift Pattern

4 nights on / 4 nights off

Flexibility is required, as you may occasionally be required to work day shifts to cover annual leave or sickness.
