About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher to support students in Derby . This role is vital in helping students from diverse linguistic backgrounds develop their English language proficiency, enabling them to access the curriculum and thrive in their academic and social lives. You will be responsible for assessing students' language needs, delivering targeted EAL instruction, and collaborating with mainstream teachers to ensure integrated support. Key Responsibilities
- Assess the English language proficiency levels of EAL students and develop appropriate learning plans.
- Deliver high-quality EAL instruction tailored to the needs of students across different age groups and proficiency levels.
- Develop and source engaging EAL resources and materials, including online tools for blended learning.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers to provide in-class support and ensure curriculum access.
- Monitor EAL student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
Requirements
- Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., TEFL, CELTA, PGCE with EAL specialism).
- Experience teaching EAL students, preferably within a school setting.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and pedagogical approaches for EAL learners.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to hybrid working models.
