English Tutor - Wigan
Location: Wigan
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Ongoing
Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced English Tutor to provide tailored 1:1 tuition to a learner in Wigan.
This opportunity would suit a supportive educator who can make lessons engaging and accessible while helping a learner overcome barriers, develop core literacy skills and make progress towards their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised English tuition
- Plan sessions based on individual learning needs
- Support literacy and wider academic development
- Adapt resources and activities where required
- Build a positive relationship with the learner
- Encourage confidence and engagement
- Monitor progress and provide feedback
Requirements
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring English
- Strong English subject knowledge
- Experience supporting children or young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable and learner-focused approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Right to Work in the UK
- Two professional child-related references
