Environmental Advisor

Overview

The Environmental Advisor will support operational teams across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, providing environmental guidance, assurance and compliance support throughout project delivery. The role will involve a mixture of site visits, audits, stakeholder engagement and environmental management planning.

Key Responsibilities

Provide environmental advice and support to operational and project teams across active construction sites.

*

Develop, review and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).

*

Support compliance with environmental legislation, client requirements and company procedures.

*

Manage environmental aspects including:

*

Surface water runoff and pollution prevention.

*

Protected habitats and species.

*

Waste management and environmental controls.

*

Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.

*

Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders as required.

*

Conduct environmental audits and inspections across projects.

*

Support energy management initiatives and energy audits.

*

Contribute to continual improvement of environmental management systems.

Candidate Profile

*

Previous Environmental Advisor experience within construction, civils, infrastructure, utilities or related sectors.

*

Civils experience is strongly preferred.

*

Experience delivering environmental compliance across live construction projects.

*

Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification desirable.

*

Environmental management systems auditing experience beneficial.

*

Candidates from consultancy backgrounds will be considered, although many candidates in the market currently operate on a self-employed or consultancy basis.

*

Open to candidates looking to progress their auditing and environmental careers.

Location & Travel

*

Significant workload currently across Scotland, with additional projects developing throughout England.

*

Future work pipeline expected to continue expanding further south.

*

Travel across England will be required from time to time.

*

Candidates can be based between the Central Belt and the North of Scotland, with flexibility considered for the right individual
