About the Role
Our client, a prominent chemical manufacturing company, is seeking an Environmental Chemical Engineer to join their team based in Bristol . This crucial role focuses on ensuring that all chemical operations comply with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices within the company. You will be involved in designing and implementing environmental control systems, monitoring emissions, and developing strategies to minimize the company's environmental footprint. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and expertise in chemical engineering principles applied to environmental management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize waste, emissions, and effluent from chemical processes.
- Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international environmental regulations and permits.
- Design, install, and operate pollution control equipment, such as scrubbers and wastewater treatment systems.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and process changes.
- Monitor environmental performance, collect data, and prepare regulatory reports in Bristol .
- Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with a specialization or strong focus on environmental engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental compliance and management within the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., REACH, COMAH, water discharge permits).
- Experience with emission control technologies and wastewater treatment processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex environmental data.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
