About the Role

Our client is seeking an Environmental Cleaning Operative to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces and facilities in Portsmouth . This role involves a range of cleaning duties, from general upkeep to specialized environmental sanitation, ensuring a safe and pleasant atmosphere for the public. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of public areas, including streets, parks, and transport hubs.
• Conduct deep cleaning operations, including graffiti removal and pressure washing.
• Respond to environmental incidents, such as spillages or litter control, in a timely manner.
• Safely handle and dispose of waste, including recyclable materials and potentially hazardous substances.
• Operate and maintain specialized environmental cleaning equipment.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with environmental regulations and health and safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Previous experience in environmental or public space cleaning is preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations.
• Ability to operate specialized cleaning equipment, such as jet washers and litter collection devices.
• Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving environmental cleaning issues.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
