About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance Officer to join their operations near Plymouth . This vital role focuses on ensuring that all mining activities adhere strictly to environmental regulations and sustainability standards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management plans, conducting site assessments, monitoring environmental impact, and reporting on compliance status. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the company's commitment to responsible resource extraction and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage environmental management systems and compliance programs for mining operations.
• Conduct regular environmental site assessments, audits, and monitoring (e.g., water quality, air emissions, waste management).
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international environmental legislation and permits.
• Investigate environmental incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and community groups on environmental matters.
• Provide environmental training and awareness programs to site personnel in the Plymouth area.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
