Environmental Health Officer

Environmental Health Officer to join a local authority on an initial 3-month temporary contract. The role requires 2 days a week on site.

The Opportunity: The council is looking for a qualified and experienced EHO with strong knowledge of Private Sector Housing, able to deal with complaints and HMOs. Experience with Statutory Nuisance issues would be a bonus. The role is primarily complaints-driven, with appropriate enforcement action including the serving of notices.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints and requests for service

• Ensure environmental matters are recorded and pursued to secure compliance

• Support and comply with quality practices per corporate/departmental policy

• Attend and advise Area Committees where required

• Observe Council and Directorate safety policies

• Promote the Council's Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding Procedures

Experience Required:

• Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent (Diploma in EH) - desirable

• Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board - desirable

• Experience securing regulatory compliance through various means

• Statutory nuisance investigation experience

• Planning and Licensing consultation response experience
