About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for their mining operations near Glasgow . This critical role involves developing and implementing robust environmental management systems, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements, and promoting best practices in environmental stewardship. You will lead a team responsible for monitoring, reporting, and mitigating environmental impacts associated with mining activities, including water management, biodiversity, and land rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of environmental legislation within the mining sector and a passion for sustainable resource development. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive environmental management plans for mining operations.
- Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international environmental regulations.
- Oversee environmental monitoring programs, including air, water, noise, and biodiversity.
- Manage environmental impact assessments and permit applications.
- Develop and implement strategies for waste management, water treatment, and land rehabilitation.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and community groups on environmental matters.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental management , preferably within the mining industry .
- In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Experience with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and ISO 14001 standards.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
