Environmental Manager – Rail Project
Location: Bristol / South West
Working Arrangement: Hybrid / Home Working – Negotiable
Job Type: Long-Term Contract
Sector: Rail / Infrastructure
Pay: £400 per day CIS
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Manager to join a long-term rail infrastructure project in the Bristol area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to work on a major rail project, supporting the delivery team to ensure environmental compliance and best practice throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and monitor environmental performance across the project.
* Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, permits and project requirements.
* Develop, implement and maintain Environmental Management Plans and associated documentation.
* Carry out environmental inspections, audits and site visits.
* Identify environmental risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
* Provide environmental advice and guidance to project teams and site management.
* Monitor areas including waste, water, pollution prevention, ecology, noise and dust.
* Investigate environmental incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and relevant environmental authorities.
* Maintain accurate environmental records and produce reports as required.
* Support the wider project team in achieving environmental targets and sustainability objectives.
Requirements
* Proven experience working as an Environmental Manager/Environmental Advisor, ideally within rail, civil engineering or major infrastructure projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Experience working within an Environmental Management System.
* Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and environmental assessments.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work independently while supporting a wider project team.
* Rail experience would be highly advantageous.
* Relevant environmental qualification such as IEMA, CIWEM or equivalent is desirable.
* Relevant rail qualifications, including PTS, would be advantageous
