About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to join their team in Belfast , focusing on the environmental impact and mitigation strategies related to mining operations. This role is vital for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices within the mining industry . You will conduct site assessments, monitor environmental conditions, and develop strategies to minimize the ecological footprint of projects. This position requires a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and the ability to work effectively on-site and in collaboration with regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for new and existing mining projects.
- Monitor air, water, and soil quality at mine sites and surrounding areas.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and remediation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international environmental legislation.
- Advise on best practices for waste management, land rehabilitation, and biodiversity conservation.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders, regulators, and management.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in environmental consulting or management, preferably within the mining sector .
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation and permitting processes in Northern Ireland.
- Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills, essential for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to conduct field work and site inspections regularly in various weather conditions.
