Environmental Scientist - Mining Impact Assessment

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join their remote-based team, contributing to environmental impact assessments for mining projects across the Leeds region and beyond. This role involves evaluating the potential environmental effects of mining operations, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new and existing mining projects.

• Monitor environmental parameters such as water quality, air emissions, and biodiversity.
• Advise on regulatory compliance and assist in obtaining environmental permits.
• Develop strategies for mine site rehabilitation and closure.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and project teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on the mining sector.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes in the UK.
• Experience with environmental modeling software and data analysis tools.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote work setting.
