Environmental Scientist - Mining Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to join their operational team in Leeds . This role is integral to ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices within our mining activities. You will be responsible for monitoring environmental impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and managing environmental programs to minimize ecological footprints. The successful candidate will work closely with site management and regulatory bodies to uphold environmental standards and contribute to responsible resource development.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental impact assessments for new and existing mining projects.
• Monitor air quality, water quality, noise levels, and biodiversity at mine sites.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans and remediation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and permitting requirements.
• Prepare environmental reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
• Advise on best practices for waste management, land rehabilitation, and pollution control.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector .
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes in the UK.
• Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to conduct field work in various conditions near Leeds .
