Environmental Services Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Technician to join their team in Glasgow , responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within healthcare facilities. This role is crucial for ensuring patient safety, preventing the spread of infection, and creating a healing environment. You will perform a variety of cleaning and disinfection tasks in patient rooms, common areas, and clinical settings, working closely with hospital staff. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, compassionate, and possess a strong understanding of infection control principles, contributing significantly to the well-being of patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and terminal cleaning of patient rooms, operating theatres, and other clinical areas according to established protocols.
• Clean and disinfect floors, walls, furniture, and equipment using approved cleaning agents and procedures.
• Manage and dispose of regulated medical waste and general trash in compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and patient areas.
• Operate specialized cleaning equipment, including floor buffers and automatic scrubbers.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment by identifying and reporting potential hazards or maintenance issues.

Requirements

• Previous experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of infection control principles and procedures, including proper use of disinfectants.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
• A compassionate attitude and respect for patients and colleagues.
