Vacancy – Part Time Accounts Assistant
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Accounts Administrator to support the day-to-day financial administration. This is a varied role suited to an individual with strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and previous experience in an accounts administration environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting credit control activities and ensuring the smooth running of key finance processes across the group.
HOURS: Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 10:00am - 14:00pm (16 hours per week)
START DATE: Immediate
SALARY: £16.80ph. Reviewed after successful probation.

Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger
- Processing supplier invoices accurately and promptly.
- Matching invoices to purchase orders where applicable.
- Preparing supplier payment runs.
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice queries.
Sales Ledger & Credit Control
- Raising sales invoices and credit notes.
- Allocating customer receipts.
- Monitoring outstanding debtors.
- Chasing overdue payments and maintaining customer account records.
- Carrying out credit checks, administering customer credit limits and monitoring credit limits.
- Maintaining CreditSafe (or similar) records and reporting.
Banking & Reconciliations
- Processing bank transactions.
- Performing bank reconciliations.
- Reconciling customer and supplier accounts.
- Assisting with month-end reconciliations and reporting.
Systems & Administration
- Maintaining accurate records within QuickBooks and other business systems.
- Assisting with data entry and financial reporting.
- Supporting the finance team with ad hoc administration tasks.
- Ensuring accurate filing and document management.
- Working closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure efficient financial processes across the group.
- Supporting the CFO with month-end activities as required.
About You
- Have previous experience in an accounts administration, bookkeeping or finance support role.
- Experience using QuickBooks and candidates should be comfortable working with finance systems and learning new software quickly.
- Have experience of purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control.
- Possess strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Be able to prioritise workload and work independently.
- Be comfortable communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
- Demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach in a small business environment with this ability to increase working hours in the future as the business continues to grows.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Previous accounts administration experience.
- Good IT and data entry skills.
- Experience using QuickBooks.
Desirable
- Experience in SME finance environments.
- Knowledge of credit control and credit monitoring systems.
