Estate Keeper

About the Role

Our client is seeking a responsible and practical Estate Keeper to manage and maintain a significant rural estate near Plymouth, Devon . This comprehensive role involves overseeing various aspects of estate management, including grounds maintenance, property upkeep, basic animal husbandry, and ensuring the security and smooth running of the estate. You will be instrumental in preserving the integrity and beauty of the estate, working closely with landowners and contractors to implement management plans and respond to day-to-day needs, contributing to the stewardship of this valuable rural asset in the Devon countryside.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage estate grounds, including gardens, woodlands, and fields, ensuring high standards of presentation.
• Oversee basic repairs and maintenance of estate buildings, fences, and infrastructure.
• Manage and care for any livestock or domestic animals on the estate, including feeding and health checks.
• Ensure the security of the estate, monitoring access and responding to any security concerns.
• Operate and maintain estate machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, mowers, and groundskeeping equipment.
• Liaise with external contractors for specialized work, such as large-scale landscaping or repairs.

Requirements

• Proven experience in estate management, groundskeeping, farming, or a similar hands-on role.
• Practical skills in maintenance, repair, and operation of groundskeeping equipment.
• Knowledge of basic animal husbandry and welfare principles.
• Ability to work independently and manage a diverse range of tasks effectively.
• Good physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.
