The Opportunity
A successful and growing fit-out contractor is looking to appoint a Junior/Intermediate Estimator to join its team in West Yorkshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business delivering a diverse range of high-end and exciting fit-out and refurbishment projects across themercial, retail, leisure, education, healthcare and public sector markets.
You'll play a key role in securing future work, producingpetitive tenders, and working closely with operational teams to ensure successful project delivery from the outset.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Pre-Construction, responsibilities will include:
Preparing accurate andpetitive estimates for fit-out, refurbishment and construction projects.
Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
Undertaking detailed take-offs and cost analysis.
Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Producing tender submissions and pricing documentation.
Identifying risks, opportunities and value engineering options.
Attending site visits, tender interviews and client meetings.
Working closely with Contracts Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Operations teams.
Maintaining a strong understanding of market conditions and supply chain pricing.
Assisting with bid strategy and securing new project opportunities.
About You
Applicants should have:
Previous experience working as an Estimator/QS within the construction industry. Happy to consider candidates who have only worked at trainee or junior level.
Strong knowledge of fit-out, refurbishment or general building projects.
Experience pricing projects ranging from small works through to multi-million-pound schemes.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical information.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellentmunication and negotiation abilities.
Desirable
Experience working for a main contractor, fit-out contractor or refurbishment specialist.
Relevant construction-related qualification or time-served experience.
Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
Understanding of JCT contracts and procurement routes.
