Experienced Toolmaker Location: Worcester Salary: Competitve Salary Contract: Permanent, full-time Hours: Mon-Thu - 7:30am to 16:30pm, Fri - 7:30am - 14:00pm
The role
We are working with an established engineering company, based in Worcester. Due to an increase in their workload, they are now looking for an experienced Toolmaker to join their tool room, manufacturing, assembling and maintaining complex tooling used in the production of aerospace and industrial gas turbine components. This role would suit a skilled, practical toolmaker who can interpret detailed engineering drawings, work to tight tolerances and solve problems during tool assembly and commissioning.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models and technical specifications
- Produce and modify precision tooling components
- Carry out bench fitting, polishing, grinding, drilling and other tool making operations
- Check components and assemblies against drawings and tolerances
- Support tooling trials, commissioning and production prove-out
- Diagnose tooling failures and complete repairs and modifications
- Maintain existing tooling to ensure reliable production performance
- Record modifications and provide feedback for drawing and design updates
- Contribute to tool room standards and continuous improvement
- Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment
About you
You will have:
- Significant experience as a toolmaker, mould toolmaker or precision engineer
- A recognised engineering or tool making apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong bench-fitting skills
- The ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Experience manufacturing, assembling and repairing complex precision tooling
- A good understanding of machining, grinding, EDM and tool making processes
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- A practical and methodical approach to problem-solving
- High standards of accuracy, workmanship and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team Applications are welcomed from experienced toolmakers with backgrounds in injection moulds, die-casting tools, press tools, aerospace tooling or other complex precision tooling. In return you can expect to receive a very competitive salary, based on your experience held as a toolmaker. You will work a straight day shift, with an early finish on Fridays.
