About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a surgical bias to join a progressive small animal practice in Norwich, Norfolk .

Salary: Up to £65,000 DOE/FTE
Hours: 39 hours per week, over 4 days
Working pattern: 9:00am–7:00pm
Weekend rota: 1 in 5 weekends
Out-of-hours: None
Part-time: Considered

This role is particularly well suited to a Veterinary Surgeon with an interest or experience in orthopaedics , or someone looking to work towards a relevant certificate.

About the Practice

The practice is a well-established, purpose-built small animal GP service in Norwich , supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team and strong regional leadership.

The clinical team includes six Veterinary Surgeons , including a new graduate, alongside eight Veterinary Nurses , Veterinary Care Assistants and an experienced administrative team.

The veterinary team has established interests across orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and diagnostic imaging , creating an environment where clinical discussion, collaboration and knowledge sharing are part of everyday practice.

The practice is well equipped for both routine and more advanced surgical cases, with well-stocked orthopaedic equipment and dedicated theatre facilities .

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care across a varied small animal caseload.

• Undertake routine and more advanced surgical procedures.

• Develop and utilise a surgical clinical bias , with particular scope for orthopaedic work.

• Diagnose and manage medical and surgical conditions.

• Work collaboratively with experienced Veterinary Surgeons and the wider clinical team.

• Participate in clinical discussions, meetings and case reviews.

• Maintain consistently high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.

• Build strong relationships with clients through excellent communication.

• Support the development of clinical services as the practice continues to grow.

• Contribute to a positive learning environment and share clinical knowledge with colleagues.

• Pursue relevant CPD and certificate development where appropriate.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years' experience in small animal practice .

They should have a clear surgical interest , with previous orthopaedic experience particularly welcomed. Candidates who are keen to develop their orthopaedic skills and work towards a certificate will also be encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate should be confident working independently while also enjoying collaboration and clinical discussion within a multi-vet team.

Strong communication skills, a commitment to high-quality patient care and genuine enthusiasm for professional development are essential.

This role could suit an experienced GP vet ready to develop a surgical bias, an established surgical vet looking for their next challenge, or a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a longer-term pathway towards senior leadership or partnership .
