About the Role
Our client is looking for a seasoned and strategic External Communications Lead to spearhead their public-facing communications from their Oxford office. This senior role is responsible for managing the company's reputation, media relations, and public affairs activities. You will develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance brand visibility, communicate key messages effectively to external stakeholders, and navigate complex communication challenges. This is an on-site leadership position requiring deep industry knowledge and strong relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive external communication strategies, including media relations, public affairs, and crisis communications.
- Serve as a primary spokesperson and manage relationships with key media outlets and journalists.
- Craft and disseminate high-impact press releases, speeches, and corporate announcements.
- Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
- Develop and manage the company's crisis communication protocols and response plans.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure consistent and effective messaging across all external platforms.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (8+ years) in external communications , public relations, or corporate affairs.
- Demonstrated success in managing media relations and executing strategic communication campaigns.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Deep understanding of the UK media landscape and public affairs environment.
- Proven ability to manage crises effectively and advise senior executives.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
