About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and innovative Facade Engineer to join their expanding design team, operating entirely remotely. This role is critical for developing and implementing high-performance building facade systems. You will be responsible for the design, specification, and technical oversight of facade elements, ensuring they meet aesthetic, structural, thermal, and weatherproofing requirements. This is a unique opportunity for an expert in facade engineering to contribute to cutting-edge construction projects from anywhere, working within a collaborative virtual environment and pushing the boundaries of building envelope technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer complex facade systems, including curtain walls, windows, doors, and cladding.
- Perform structural analysis and thermal calculations for facade elements using specialized software.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and tender documentation for facade packages.
- Liaise with architects, main contractors, and specialist facade contractors to ensure design intent is realized.
- Conduct site visits (where feasible, or coordinate remote support) to monitor facade installation and quality.
- Ensure facade designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and performance requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering, or Architecture with facade specialization.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in facade engineering design and specification.
- Proficiency in facade design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, structural analysis tools).
- Thorough understanding of facade materials, construction methods, and performance criteria (e.g., U-values, air permeability).
- Excellent technical, problem-solving, and communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
