Labour Controller
Location: Barkingside, Essex
Office-based | Monday to Friday
£37,000 + Standby/Call-Out Allowance (TBC)

We are seeking an organised and proactive Labour Controller to join a busy facilities maintenance team in Barkingside. Thisroleplays a key part in coordinating planned and reactive maintenance works, ensuring engineers and subcontractors are effectively scheduled while delivering excellent customer service.
You will be the first point of contact for clients, managing maintenance requests, allocating resources, monitoring job progress, and ensuring service levels are met. ThisroleisidealforsomeonewithexperienceinFacilitiesManagement,MaintenanceCoordination,Scheduling,orHelpdeskOperations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for client enquiries and maintenance requests.
- Log and manage reactive maintenance tasks.
- Schedule engineers for planned and reactive works.
- Manage engineer diaries and workforce planning.
- Coordinate subcontractors and site access arrangements.
- Monitor jobs to ensure contractual response times are met.
- Liaise with the Contracts Manager on resource allocation.
- Prepare permits to work, RAMS, and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate records on internal systems and client portals.
- Provide updates to clients on job progress and completion.
- Review engineer reports and identify remedial works.
- Process timesheets, paperwork, and completion reports.
- Order materials and monitor deliveries.
- Track outstanding works and follow up on actions.
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota (currently 1 week in 6).
Skills & Experience
- Experience as a Labour Controller, Scheduler, Planner, Helpdesk Coordinator, Maintenance Coordinator, or similar.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Experience coordinating engineers, contractors, or mobile workforces.
- Ability to work to SLAs and deadlines.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using CAFM or maintenance management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Professional, proactive, and team-focused approach.
