Key Facilities Engineer Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor industrial boilers throughout each shift.
- Complete daily boiler checks covering pressure, temperature, water levels and safety valves.
- Carry out chemical dosing and water treatment checks to site schedules.
- Accurately record boiler readings and maintenance activities in the CMMS.
- Respond to boiler alarms and faults as the first responder.
- Complete PPM on burners, flues, heat exchangers and associated boiler equipment.
- Inspect and test safety relief valves and pressure control systems.
- Maintain the boiler house to a clean, safe and compliant standard.
- Support annual statutory boiler inspections and maintain required records.
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems including AHUs, fan coil units and extract fans.
- Maintain compressed air systems including compressors, dryers, receivers and distribution networks.
- Monitor compressed air quality and pressure across production areas.
- Complete planned maintenance on refrigeration and cooling systems and escalate suspected refrigerant leaks.
- Maintain extract and LEV systems, including future kitchen facilities.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across site utilities and facilities.
Required Facilities Engineer Experience
- Strong hands-on experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume manufacturing.
- Proven experience operating and maintaining industrial boilers, including boiler safety, water treatment and statutory compliance.
- Experience maintaining compressed air, HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, extract and hot/cold-water systems.
- Experience with legionella compliance, CMMS systems, Permit to Work and safe isolation procedures.
- Strong understanding of engineering health, safety and environmental requirements.
Essential Qualifications
- Boiler operation or boiler engineering qualification — required.
- Water treatment or legionella awareness qualification — required.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services engineering qualification.
- Experience with ATEX/hazardous areas or BRCGS-accredited food manufacturing.
- IOSH or relevant health & safety qualification
