About the Role
Our client is seeking a versatile and reliable Facilities Maintenance Operative to support their operations in Cardiff , Wales. This role involves a broad range of activities to ensure the smooth and safe running of the company's premises, from minor repairs to routine inspections and site upkeep. You will play a vital part in maintaining a positive and functional working environment for all employees and visitors. The successful candidate will be proactive, possess a practical approach to problem-solving, and be comfortable working across various maintenance tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency and appearance of the facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical repairs, and carpentry.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facilities, identifying and reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
- Carry out routine servicing of building systems such as HVAC filters, lighting, and fire safety equipment.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of rooms for meetings, events, or internal functions.
- Manage the upkeep of external areas, including grounds maintenance and ensuring clear access routes.
- Respond to and resolve day-to-day maintenance requests from staff members efficiently.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a facilities maintenance or general handyman role.
- A practical understanding of basic building systems, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to report issues clearly.
- Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks.
- Willingness to work across different areas of the Cardiff site and occasionally outside normal hours.
