About the Role

Our client is looking for a versatile Facilities Maintenance Operative to join their team in Sheffield . This role encompasses a broad range of general maintenance tasks required to ensure the smooth and safe operation of commercial facilities. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and general upkeep of the building and grounds, contributing to a safe and functional environment for all occupants. The ideal candidate is a practical, hands-on individual with a broad skill set in basic maintenance and a strong commitment to ensuring facilities are well-maintained and presentable.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building systems, including basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC checks.
• Carry out minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, windows, and furniture.
• Undertake general grounds maintenance, such as basic landscaping, litter picking, and gritting in winter.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies, addressing issues promptly and efficiently.
• Assist specialist contractors when on-site for more complex repairs or installations.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, adhering to health and safety regulations relevant to the Sheffield site.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a general facilities maintenance or handyman role.
• Broad knowledge of basic building maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills.
• Ability to operate basic tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a workplace environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
