Job Description
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Family Legal Secretary to provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to Fee Earners within a busy Family Law department, while delivering an excellent standard of client care.
Key Requirements
- Previous legal secretarial experience, ideally within Family Law.
- Experience of audio typing and word processing.
- GCSEs at Grade C/Grade 5 or above, or equivalent.
- Excellent organisational and client care skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within a busy department.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to manage workloads with minimal supervision.
- Good understanding of Legal Aid contractual requirements and procedures.
- Experience using a client case management system and the Legal Aid CCMS system.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence, bills and legal documents for Fee Earners using audio typing and word processing.
- Open and maintain electronic client files, including completing relevant compliance checks and procedures.
- Deal with clients by telephone and in person, providing professional and friendly administrative support without giving legal advice.
- Complete photocopying and other general administrative duties.
- Arrange appointments and meetings and maintain accurate and up-to-date diaries.
- Assist Fee Earners with diary management, key dates and general organisation.
- Ensure delegated tasks are completed accurately, efficiently and within required timescales.
- Attend to new client enquiries, obtain relevant information and complete appropriate conflict checks.
- Undertake training and contribute to ongoing professional development.
