About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and empathetic Family Support Practitioner to join their dedicated team in Edinburgh . This role is pivotal in providing crucial support to families facing challenges, aiming to strengthen family relationships and improve outcomes for children. You will work collaboratively with families, offering practical advice, emotional support, and guidance to navigate complex situations such as parenting difficulties, financial hardship, or behavioural issues. This position requires a sensitive and professional approach, focusing on building trust and empowering families to access resources and develop effective coping strategies, contributing to a healthier and more stable home environment. The role offers a hybrid work model, blending in-person support with administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of family needs, identifying strengths and areas requiring support.
- Develop and implement tailored family support plans, setting achievable goals with family involvement.
- Provide direct support to families through home visits, counselling, and practical interventions.
- Facilitate positive parenting practices and support strategies to improve family dynamics.
- Liaise effectively with other professionals and agencies involved in a family’s care, such as schools and health services.
Requirements
- A relevant qualification in social work, counselling, child development, or a related discipline.
- Experience working directly with families in a support or therapeutic capacity.
- Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory, and family systems.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with families from diverse backgrounds.
