Farm Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Farm Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment across their agricultural operations in Portsmouth . This critical role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures to comply with all relevant regulations. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, providing safety training, and investigating incidents to prevent future occurrences. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety legislation within the agricultural sector and a commitment to fostering a strong safety culture on the farm. This role is essential for the well-being of all farm personnel and the operational integrity of the farm.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate accidents and near misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Organize and deliver health and safety training programs for all farm staff.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Maintain health and safety records and prepare regular reports for management.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

• NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in a health and safety role, preferably within agriculture or a related industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, particularly as it applies to farming.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and training delivery skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage safety initiatives.
