Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Field Service Engineer to join their team, focusing on the Southampton area. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems at customer premises. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliable operation of networks and resolving technical issues efficiently. This position demands a dedication to customer satisfaction and technical excellence within the dynamic telecoms industry , requiring regular travel across the designated region.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment, including routers, modems, and networking hardware.
- Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on existing systems to prevent potential issues.
- Respond promptly to service calls, troubleshooting and repairing faults on-site to minimize downtime.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring a high level of service satisfaction.
- Adhere to strict health and safety protocols while working at customer locations.
- Accurately document all service activities, including site visits, work performed, and parts used, in the company's system.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar technical role within the telecoms sector .
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications hardware, networking principles, and fault-finding techniques.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Good customer-facing skills with a professional and courteous demeanour.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet service targets.
- Must possess a full UK driving licence and be comfortable with regular travel.
