Field Service Engineer – Industrial Machinery

Location: Midlands – Field Based Salary: £40,000 + Overtime + Benefits Permanent | Full Time

Are you a Field Service Engineer with strong electrical fault-finding skills and experience working on industrial machinery?

We are recruiting for an established UK engineering business specialising in advanced automated machinery used within manufacturing and fabrication environments.

This is a varied field-based position involving the installation, commissioning, servicing and repair of complex industrial machinery at customer sites throughout the UK, with occasional overseas travel.

You do not need previous experience on this company's specific machinery. Engineers from CNC, packaging, automation, machine tools, conveyors, production machinery and other electro-mechanical equipment backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Service, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery

• Electrical and control system fault finding

• Diagnosing faults from first principles

• PLC I/O and control system diagnostics

• Mechanical fault finding and repairs

• Installation and commissioning of new machinery

• Planned preventative maintenance

• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics

• Working with motors, sensors, drives and control panels

• Fault finding on pneumatic and hydraulic systems

• Providing technical support to customers

• Working independently at customer sites

• UK travel with occasional travel to Ireland/Europe

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in engineers with a strong electrical / controls background who are also comfortable undertaking mechanical work.

Ideally, you'll have experience with some of the following:

• Industrial machinery, Electrical fault finding, Control panels

• PLC fault finding / PLC I/O

• Motors, sensors and drives

• Electrical schematics and Mechanical systems

• Hydraulics and pneumatics

• Breakdown and preventative maintenance

Experience working on CNC machinery, machine tools, cutting equipment, packaging machinery, automated production equipment, conveyors or similar industrial machinery would be particularly relevant.

Direct experience with plasma, oxyfuel or laser cutting machinery would be advantageous, but is not essential where you have strong transferable industrial machinery experience.

About You

You will be:

• A competent electro-mechanical engineer

• Strong at electrical/control fault diagnosis

• Comfortable fault finding rather than simply replacing components

• Able to read electrical drawings and schematics

• Confident working independently at customer sites

• Comfortable travelling as part of a field-service position
