Job Description
Field Service & Installation Engineer – Industrial Machinery
£46,000 Basic + Company Vehicle + Private Healthcare + Pension
Monday to Friday – DAYS ONLY – No Shifts or Weekend Working
Home Based – Midlands Preferred | UK Travel
Are you a hands-on Field Service, Installation, Commissioning or Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical and mechanical skills?
Would you like to move into a Monday-to-Friday days role, working on interesting industrial machinery projects across the UK for a highly established and successful Packaging Machinery Company?
We are recruiting an experienced engineer to join a growing technical team responsible for the installation, commissioning, fault-finding and optimisation of industrial end-of-line machinery at customer sites throughout the UK.
This could be an excellent opportunity for an engineer currently working in field service, industrial maintenance, automation, materials handling, conveyors, packaging machinery or special-purpose machinery.
The Role
You'll be involved in projects from installation through to successful handover, including:
* Installing and commissioning industrial machinery at customer sites
* Electrical and mechanical installation work
* Fault-finding and diagnostics on electrical and mechanical systems
* Working with control panels, motors, drives, sensors and machine safety systems
* Conducting machine trials and resolving commissioning issues
* Supporting customers during and following installation
* Training operators and maintenance personnel
* Working alongside other engineers and equipment manufacturers on larger projects
* Acting as Installation Lead on projects as your experience develops
Working Hours & Travel
This is a permanent DAY’S position, Monday to Friday only – there are no rotating shifts.
As this is a UK-wide field position, travel is an important part of the role.
Depending upon the location and duration of each project, there will be occasions when you will need to stay away from home Monday to Thursday rather than travelling backwards and forwards each day.
When overnight stays are required, hotel accommodation will be provided and meals/expenses paid for by the company.
You'll then be home for the weekend.
What We're Looking For
You don't necessarily need previous packaging machinery experience.
We're much more interested in finding a genuinely hands-on engineer with a good balance of electrical and mechanical engineering skills who is comfortable working independently on industrial machinery.
Ideally, you'll have experience in some of the following:
* Industrial machinery installation and commissioning
* Electrical fault-finding
* Control panel wiring and electrical schematics
* Machine safety circuits
* Motors, drives, sensors and controls
* Mechanical assembly and fault-finding
* Pneumatics and/or hydraulics
* Conveyors, palletisers, strapping, wrapping, labelling or other automated machinery
* PLC-controlled equipment and basic PLC diagnostics
PLC programming is NOT required – the company has specialist PLC support available.
Applications are particularly welcome from Field Service Engineers, Installation Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, Multi-Skilled Engineers and Maintenance Engineers who would like to move into a days-based field position.
Package
* £46,000 basic salary
* Monday to Friday – DAYS
* Company vehicle
* Private healthcare
* Company pension
* Life assurance
* 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
* Mobile phone and laptop
* Overtime available
* Full product training
* Excellent long-term job security
Opportunity to develop within a well-established and growing engineering business
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems and seeing a machinery project through from installation to successful production.
If you have strong electrical and mechanical skills and are comfortable with UK travel and overnight stays when projects require them, we'd love to hear from you.
