About the Role
Our client is seeking a practical and diligent Field Telecoms Engineer to serve the Wolverhampton area. This role involves direct, on-site work ensuring the reliable operation of telecommunications systems for our diverse customer base. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various telecom equipment, including fibre optic and copper networks. The ideal candidate is adept at hands-on technical work, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and is committed to delivering excellent customer service in a field-based capacity. This position requires regular travel within the designated service region.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment at customer sites.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on network infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults efficiently, ensuring minimal service disruption.
- Manage and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Provide clear and concise technical reports following site visits and service calls.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Field Engineer or technician in the telecoms or IT sector.
- Proficiency in working with fibre optic and copper cabling systems.
- Knowledge of basic networking principles and telecommunication standards.
- Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and specifications.
- Strong customer service orientation and good communication skills.
- A full UK driving license is mandatory for this role.
