We're looking for a Finance Assistant to join our friendly and supportive Finance team, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance experience who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and improving processes. You'll play an important role in ensuring our financial information is accurate, reliable and delivered on time, helping to support decisions across the Society.
What you'll be doing
Working as part of our Finance team, you'll provide support across a variety of financial processes, ensuring our records are accurate and our financial controls remain robust. No two days will be the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work across different areas of finance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reconciling cash statements and resolving discrepancies.
- Preparing sales reconciliations and financial reports.
- Processing journals, invoices and credit notes accurately.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
- Maintaining sales ledger information for our Funeral Division.
- Assisting with month-end processes and financial reporting.
- Supporting the Accounts Payable function when required.
- Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and increase efficiency.
- Providing support across the wider Finance team during periods of absence or peak workload.
About you
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with financial data, has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work.You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a finance or accounts role.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and reporting.
- Experience with reconciliations, invoice processing and ledger maintenance.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with colleagues across the business.
- A proactive approach with a desire to continually improve processes.
- A professional attitude and the ability to handle confidential information.
