Job Description
A well-established and growing construction business in East Yorkshire is seeking a commercially focused Finance Business Partner to join its senior finance team.Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, partner with operational leadership teams, and drive financial performance across a key division of the business.
This position would suit a qualified accountant who enjoys working closely with stakeholders, challenging performance, improving processes, and providing meaningful financial insight that supports business growth.
The OpportunityAs Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with divisional leadership, providing robust financial analysis, commercial challenge, and strategic support across a portfolio of projects and operational activities.You will act as the link between finance and operational teams, helping to ensure projects remain commercially viable, budgets are effectively managed, and business objectives are achieved.This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a fast-paced and evolving construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with operational and divisional leaders to support strategic and commercial decision-making.
Deliver insightful financial analysis and performance reporting to drive business improvement.
Monitor and analyse project profitability, costs, margins, and financial performance.
Support the preparation, management, and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
Produce detailed financial reports, including variance analysis and performance commentary.
Provide financial guidance and challenge to project and operational teams.
Identify financial risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across financial processes and controls.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
Build strong relationships across the business, becoming a trusted commercial partner to non-finance stakeholders.About YouWe are looking for an ambitious and proactive finance professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder management capabilities.You will be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, able to challenge constructively, influence decision-making, and identify opportunities to improve performance.Requirements
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years' experience within finance, accounting, or commercial finance roles.
Previous experience partnering with operational stakeholders in a project-led, construction, engineering, manufacturing, or contracting environment would be advantageous.
Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting skills.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently whilst building effective relationships across multiple functions.
Experience operating in a fast-paced and changing business environment
