About the Role
Our client, a respected organisation in the Charity & Voluntary sector , is seeking a meticulous and organised Finance Officer to manage their financial operations from their Reading office. This role is critical for ensuring the sound financial management and reporting of the organisation, supporting its mission and continued growth. You will be responsible for a range of financial duties, contributing to the overall financial health and stability of the charity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and a passion for supporting a charitable cause.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Manage bank reconciliations and ensure all financial records are up-to-date.
- Support the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and charity accounting standards.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Process payroll and manage staff expenses.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Finance Officer or in a similar accounting role, preferably within the Charity & Voluntary sector .
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in an office environment.
- Knowledge of charity accounting practices is a significant advantage.
