We are recruiting an experienced Financial Accountant to join an established finance team within a fast-paced manufacturing & engineering business. Month-end forms the core of this role, so you will need a strong technical grounding and the confidence to take full ownership of your areas from day one. You will be someone who spots issues early, investigates discrepancies thoroughly and resolves problems using your own initiative.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include:
Preparing accruals, prepayments and monthly depreciation
Maintaining the fixed asset register
Completing balance sheet reconciliations and Group reporting
Reconciling and clearing the GR/IR account
Managing intercompany reconciliations, accruals and netting payments
Revaluing receivables, payables, bank balances and FX forward contracts
Preparing cash flow forecasts and monitoring performance
Managing multi-currency payment runs
Preparing monthly VAT returns
Supporting statutory accounts preparation and the external audit
Investigating unallocated receipts, supplier balances and other discrepancies
Providing wider technical accounting support across the business
The Person
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
Working towards a recognised accounting qualification – ACA, ACCA or CIMA
Proven Financial Accountant experience within manufacturing or a closely related industry
Strong technical accounting knowledge and substantial month-end experience
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup formulas
The ability to work autonomously, manage competing deadlines and remain accurate under pressure
An inquisitive approach with the confidence to identify and resolve issues
Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business
Experience of large complex ERP/MRP systems would be advantageous
Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a broad and technically varied accounting role within an established and supportive business.
You’ll join a friendly finance team, working closely with the Financial Controller and colleagues across the wider organisation, giving you plenty of exposure and variety.
The company genuinely values and looks after its employees, with long-service awards a regular occurrence – a strong reflection of the positive working environment and employee retention.
The business is particularly keen to hear from candidates who are immediately available and ready to hit the ground running
