Financial Accountant

About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous and driven Financial Accountant to become a key member of their finance department based in Southampton . This role will focus on statutory reporting, compliance, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. You will play a crucial part in the month-end and year-end close processes, providing essential support to the Finance Manager. The hybrid working model allows for a balance between collaborative team work in the office and focused independent work from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely statutory financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Manage the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.
• Ensure all financial transactions are correctly recorded and reconciled, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and provide support for budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure financial compliance and mitigate risks in Southampton .

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent, with a strong understanding of financial accounting principles.
• Proven experience in preparing statutory accounts and managing audits.
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards (UK GAAP, IFRS) and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
