The Houlihan Lokey Corporate Finance business has extensive expertise in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, activist shareholder and takeover defense, and other related advisory services for a broad range of clients. Energy Group
Houlihan Lokey’s Oil & Gas (O&G) Group is a recognized leader in providing a wide range of investment banking advisory services to companies and investors operating in the Oil & Gas industry. This dedicated team of financial and technical professionals focuses primarily on large, complex transactions in the Oil & Gas industry, including across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors as well as in molecule-related alternative energies. The O&G Group is comprised of a global team with dedicated industry bankers in Houston, Dallas, New York, London, Dubai, and Hong Kong and regularly works on cross-border deals. The O&G Group is a cross-product industry vertical.
Scope
The Oil & Gas team at Houlihan Lokey is looking to add a Financial Analyst in London. The environment at Houlihan Lokey is both collegial and entrepreneurial. Analysts work on transactions that provide exposure to various investment banking services, including M&A, private placements of debt and equity, refinancings, and leveraged buyouts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze and help explain historical and projected financial information
- Create financial models
- Coordinate and perform business due diligence
- Prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, marketing pitches and other presentations
- Conduct research on sectors, companies and potential buyers
- Value companies and businesses
- Build relationships and maintain direct contact with clients and prospective clients and professional advisors
- Supervise and train junior staff members
- Assist in planning of engagements

Requirements / Qualifications
- Strong Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Up to 1 year of full-time investment banking experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) advisory
- Keen interest in the Oil and Gas sector
- Demonstrable experience in executing sell-side transactions
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong analytical abilities and knowledge of accounting and applied financial theory
- Excellent understanding of financial statements analysis with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats, and limitations
- An excellent understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with team members
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects and hit deadlines in a highly organised manner
