Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Financial Controller to lead their finance function in Sunderland . This senior position will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The role requires a strong leader who can provide financial guidance to the executive team and drive financial performance. This hybrid role allows for a blend of strategic office-based work and remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
• Develop and manage the annual budget and long-term financial planning processes.
• Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic business decisions.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.

Requirements

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with a minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, corporate finance, and taxation.
• Experience with financial modelling and ERP systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
