About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Financial Controller to lead their financial operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position is responsible for the overall management of the company's accounting functions, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in strategic financial planning, risk management, and the implementation of robust financial policies and procedures. This is a key leadership opportunity for a qualified professional to make a significant impact on the financial health and strategic direction of the organisation, based in a vibrant city centre location.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and direct all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
Prepare and analyse financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS standards.
Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with senior management.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
Provide strategic financial advice and support to the board of directors and senior leadership team.

Requirements

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior accounting role.
Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and company law.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing a finance team.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
