Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and diligent Financial Controller to lead their accounting operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position requires a strategic thinker with a strong command of financial management and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for the overall financial health of the organisation, ensuring accurate reporting, effective budgeting, and sound financial planning. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and treasury.
• Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Lead the preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts, and tax returns for UK entities .
• Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing critical financial insights.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure asset protection.
• Collaborate with senior management on financial planning, investment appraisal, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience.
• Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role.
• Extensive knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws , and accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP).
• Proven ability to manage and develop a finance team effectively.
• Expertise in financial modelling, forecasting, and risk management.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
