About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned and highly organized Financial Controller to lead their finance department in Stoke-on-Trent . This critical role oversees all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance within the banking and finance sector. You will play a key role in strategic financial planning, driving efficiency, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This hybrid position allows for essential in-person collaboration with teams while offering flexibility for remote work, promoting a dynamic and effective work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Develop and manage the annual budget process, collaborating with department heads.
- Conduct financial analysis, variance explanations, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax requirements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent professional qualification is essential.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, preferably within a regulated financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with financial audits and regulatory reporting.
