Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead their accounting operations in Birmingham . This senior position is responsible for managing all aspects of the company's financial health, including financial planning, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the company's long-term goals, ensuring robust financial controls and accurate financial data. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in financial leadership and a deep understanding of financial regulations and best practices within the UK market.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, payroll, and compliance.
• Prepare and publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop and manage the company's budget and financial forecasts.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
• Manage cash flow and treasury operations to optimize liquidity.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong background in financial control.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in financial management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or controller role.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and forecasting.
• Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of UK financial regulations and tax laws is essential.
