Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of their established business in Southampton . This senior role is responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and contributing to the company's financial strategy and growth. You will lead a team and work closely with senior management to drive financial performance and maintain robust internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP or IFRS.
• Develop and manage the company's annual budget and rolling forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Implement and maintain strong internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Support senior management with financial analysis, business case development, and strategic planning initiatives.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong track record in financial control and management accounting.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably in a similar industry or at a senior finance position.
• In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (e.g., UK GAAP , IFRS) and accounting principles.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
