About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of their growing business based in Birmingham . This leadership position demands a strategic thinker who can ensure the integrity of financial reporting, manage risk, and contribute to the company's financial strategy. You will be responsible for leading a team of finance professionals, driving efficiency, and maintaining robust internal controls. The role requires a deep understanding of financial regulations and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial stewardship, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversee the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and high performance.
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Significant experience (7+ years) in a financial control or senior accounting role, preferably in a similar industry.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, consolidation, and statutory accounts preparation.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
