About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly organized and experienced Financial Controller to oversee their financial operations in Bristol . This role is crucial for managing the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls. You will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and providing critical financial insights to support business growth. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent leadership skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP or IFRS.
- Develop and manage the company's budget and forecasts, monitoring performance against financial plans.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Manage the audit process, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and financial reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail for work in Bristol .
