About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead their finance department in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, financial planning, and compliance, ensuring the fiscal health and strategic direction of the company. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing financial strategies, managing risk, and providing vital financial leadership. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and direct all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Oversee the preparation of all financial statements and regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Develop and manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
• Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to support decision-making.
• Lead and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience in a senior financial management role, such as Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, UK GAAP/IFRS, and financial regulations.
• Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
